Casimir Lubecki was named after his great grandfather, a noted Hungarian
naval officer, who was named after Casimir the Great,a 14th century Polish
king and philanthropist of absolutely no relation. Although Casimir has yet
to achieve such notoriety as his predecessors, we would like to think he is
on his way. A recent graduate of the Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts and
emigrant to chicago’s west side, Casimir makes work of a modest scale
combining trompe'loeil realism with a minimalist aesthetic.

Wendy Red Star is a Crow Indian/American currently completing her MFA from
UCLA. She works in a variety of mediums including sculpture and
photography. She fabricates elaborate sets of nature scenes complete with
plastic, inflatable, woodland creatures and painted cardboard mountain
ranges. She photographs herself in the middle of these curious natural
history like dioramas. The imagery which ensues is a dichotomy of her rich
indigenous culture and EuroAmerican society. The striking photographs are
beautiful in color and composition as well as moralistically intriguing.

Lori D. Is an animator, illustrator, and film maker.  A recent graduate of
CalArts masters program of experimental animation and citizen of Vancouver
British Columbia.  She is a propagator of the DIY phenomenon; fabricating
zines, producing films, and creating a multitude of paintings and
illustrations.  Her subjects reflect the cast of unusual characters she has
collaborated with and met along the way, exquisitely entertaining and
awkwardly sincere.

Maron Resur grew up in a haunted hollow of a forest down the street from a
psychotic park ranger under an abandoned train trestle.  Classically
trained as a print maker, maron has honed her drawing skills and
developed a Rembrandtesque painting style. She has a proclivity for
portraiture, often times of herself, friends, and family.  Her work is best
when her academic training melds with her intuition.

Charles Borowitz is a photographer and film maker from Indianapolis
Indiana.  His film troupe, anc movies, is a collective of curious
individuals, presumably all living under one roof, known for their
absurdist situations. His photography is glossy and digital with
saturated color and seductive depictions of the mundane. Although
the subject matter leans hard on the banal there is always an edge,
an emphatic spark of truth which he finds in the pedestrian
circumstances of everyday life.

Alaska Noyes has a fascination for the sea and a passion for adventure. He
is a certified scuba diver, experienced sailor, and ironically, comes from
the landlocked state of Kansas. His stylized illustrations of research
vessels, clipper ships, and whales are striking in their humble simplicity.
He employs such accessible materials as Sharpie markers, ball point pens,
and highlighters to create his unaffected work. He is showing with R&D for
the first time in Chicago.
